Microsoft Hosts AI Summit in Kuwait to Empower the Country’s AI Future

The Summit brought together government, industry, and technology leaders to explore how AI and cloud are accelerating the country’s digital transformation and Vision 2035 ambitions.

19 October 2025; Kuwait City, Kuwait – Microsoft today hosted its AI Tour in Kuwait, convening technology leaders, government officials, industry pioneers, and the local developer community to explore the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in driving Kuwait’s national growth and digital transformation agenda. The Summit underscored Microsoft’s commitment to empowering the country’s national digital transformation through responsible AI innovation, infrastructure, and skilling.

H.E. Held under the theme of Kuwait’s AI Ambition, the event featured keynote remarks from H.E. Omar Saud Al-Omar, Minister of State for Communication Affairs, and Alaeddine Karim, Country General Manager, Microsoft Kuwait, alongside senior officials and industry partners. The discussions explored Kuwait’s evolving AI landscape, cloud infrastructure readiness, and strategies to build an AI-driven economy aligned with Kuwait Vision 2035.

Also in attendance was Naim Yazbeck, President, Middle East and Africa at Microsoft. In his address, Yazbeck emphasized Microsoft’s regional strategy to accelerate AI adoption across strategic growth markets, highlighting the importance of trusted cloud infrastructure, public-private collaboration, and responsible AI innovation in driving sustainable digital transformation across Kuwait and the wider region.

Throughout the day, Microsoft experts and partners showcased how AI is transforming Kuwait’s key industries from-public services and energy to tourism and education-culminating in the AI Excellence Awards, which recognized organizations that have successfully implemented AI to enhance citizen services and operational excellence across government and enterprise sectors.

During the tour, Microsoft showcased real-world AI innovations transforming Kuwait’s key sectors. In tourism, the company is partnering with the Public Authority for Sports to build Kuwait’s first AI-powered national digital tourism hub on Microsoft Azure, integrating more than 80 partners to deliver seamless, personalized travel experiences through the AI companion “Rashid.” In government, the Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT) is leveraging Microsoft’s Azure Landing Zone to enable 44 entities to migrate securely to the cloud, laying the foundation for Kuwait’s AI-ready digital infrastructure. In energy, Microsoft and Ghaia.ai have introduced an Agentic AI system for the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), automating rig scheduling, cutting idle rig time by 50%, a milestone in Kuwait’s move toward intelligent, autonomous operations.

At the conclusion of the Microsoft AI Summit Kuwait, H.E. Omar Saud Al-Omar, Minister of State for Communications Affairs and Microsoft Leaders, honored a distinguished group of government and private sector organizations for their outstanding achievements in AI adoption and innovation.

The AI Excellence Awards celebrated pioneering projects that demonstrated how AI is accelerating Kuwait’s digital transformation across sectors, including finance, health, education, and public services.

Among the honorees:

  • Ministry of Finance – for deploying an AI-powered Electronic Correspondence System that enhances efficiency across government entities.
  • Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT) – for implementing Secure Azure Landing Zones 44, establishing the foundation for the government’s secure migration to the Microsoft Cloud.
  • Kuwait Credit Bank – for deploying integrated AI-based protection systems powered by Microsoft technologies.
  • Public Authority for Sports – for developing the Hayakum application, a key enabler in the success of the Gulf Cup.
  • General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development – for pioneering the use of Microsoft Copilot across internal systems to enhance productivity and streamline workflows.
  • Ministry of Health – for leveraging AI through the Salem Health platform to optimize healthcare delivery.
  • Public Authority for Applied Education and Training and Kuwait Oil Company – for their innovative use of AI solutions driving institutional excellence.
  • From the private sector, Kuwait Finance House and National Bank of Kuwait were recognized for their leadership in applying AI to advance digital banking and customer experience.

These awards reflect Kuwait’s growing leadership in harnessing the power of AI and cloud technologies to drive innovation, efficiency, and national progress.

In line with Kuwait’s nationalization priorities, Microsoft reaffirms its long-term commitment to developing local digital capabilities through AI skilling initiatives, centers of excellence, and academic partnerships.
