India’s artificial intelligence landscape has entered a new phase where the conversation is no longer centered on whether businesses should adopt AI, but on how they can deploy it responsibly, securely, and at scale.

As the world marks AI Appreciation Day 2026 on July 16, industry leaders across India’s technology sector say artificial intelligence has evolved from an experimental technology into critical digital infrastructure powering businesses, governments, healthcare, cybersecurity, and everyday consumer experiences.
Originally launched in 2021 to recognize advances in artificial intelligence while encouraging discussions around ethics and regulation, AI Appreciation Day has grown into a global platform promoting responsible innovation. This year’s theme emphasizes governance, transparency, trust, and accountability as increasingly autonomous AI systems become embedded across industries.
Unlike previous years, when AI was largely viewed as a productivity tool for generating content or analyzing data, organizations are now integrating AI into core operations. Autonomous systems are supporting medical diagnostics, strengthening cybersecurity, optimizing supply chains, predicting environmental trends, and streamlining enterprise workflows.
Industry executives say the next challenge is not access to AI technology, but deploying it efficiently while ensuring strong governance and sustainable business value.
Srinivas Rao, Managing Director of Infrastructure Solutions Group at Lenovo India, said enterprises are moving beyond experimentation toward real-world deployment. According to Rao, organizations must now focus on selecting the right infrastructure across cloud, edge, and on-premises environments while establishing governance frameworks that support long-term resilience.
Arnold Su, Vice President of Consumer & Gaming PC at Asus India, believes the most impactful AI will increasingly work behind the scenes rather than through highly visible features. He said future AI experiences must prioritize reliability, transparency, privacy, and user trust while helping consumers become more productive with minimal effort.
Oracle India Vice President for Cloud Applications Shailesh Singla said artificial intelligence is becoming deeply integrated into enterprise applications, enabling finance, human resources, supply chain, and operations teams to make faster, more informed decisions. Rather than simply automating routine work, AI is helping organizations improve productivity and generate measurable business outcomes.
Enterprise software company Cloudera echoed the importance of responsible AI deployment. Mayank Baid, Regional Vice President for India and South Asia, said organizations increasingly recognize that trusted, governed data is the foundation of successful AI implementation. As enterprises move from pilot projects into full production environments, secure data management and transparency have become essential.
Atul Ahuja, Area Vice President and General Manager at Elastic India, noted that many businesses still possess vast amounts of valuable information trapped inside disconnected applications and enterprise systems. He cited research indicating that nearly 40 percent of Indian organizations have already achieved significant or full-scale AI adoption, while most expect AI investment to continue rising over the coming year. However, he emphasized that successful AI depends on high-quality enterprise data and efficient retrieval systems capable of providing accurate context for AI models.
Education technology is also undergoing rapid transformation. Nitin Golani, Chief Executive Officer of UNIVO Education, described AI as the defining technology of the current era, reshaping industries, business models, and workforce requirements. He said organizations that integrate AI responsibly will be best positioned to drive innovation while creating sustainable long-term value.
India’s expanding AI ecosystem is being supported by both public and private investment. Government-backed initiatives, research institutions, universities, and technology companies continue investing in AI infrastructure, talent development, enterprise applications, and responsible governance frameworks.
As AI Appreciation Day 2026 highlights, artificial intelligence is no longer measured solely by the sophistication of its algorithms. Industry leaders increasingly agree that its long-term success will depend on how responsibly it is governed, how transparently it operates, and how effectively it improves lives while maintaining public trust.
