Galgotias University, a private institution from Greater Noida, was asked to vacate its exhibition stall at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 following a major controversy over a robotic dog it showcased at the event.

The row erupted after a viral video showed a university representative introducing a four-legged robot named “Orion” as part of its artificial intelligence and robotics work. However, observers and social media users quickly identified the device as a commercially available Chinese-made robodog — the Unitree Go2 — not an indigenous innovation.
As criticism grew online over what many saw as a misleading presentation, organisers reportedly directed Galgotias University to clear its stall at the summit expo. In some reports, the power at their pavilion was cut off shortly after the directive.
University officials later clarified that the robot was acquired as a learning and demonstration tool for students, and that they had not intended to claim it as their own design. Despite this, the backlash overshadowed the institution’s presence at the summit and led to its departure from the event.
The incident has sparked wider discussions about transparency and authenticity in technology showcases, especially at high-profile gatherings like the India AI Impact Summit.
