U.S. authorities have seized seven internet domains used by hackers linked to Chinese IT firm Integrity Technology Group, the Justice Department said on Thursday, in the latest effort to disrupt cyber operations targeting critical infrastructure.

The domains were used to help Chinese hackers scan and attack critical infrastructure systems in the United States and other countries, the department said in a statement.
The seizure marks the second publicly disclosed U.S. operation targeting Integrity Technology’s hacking infrastructure, as Washington steps up efforts to counter cyber threats attributed to Chinese actors.
In September 2024, the Justice Department announced a court-authorized operation against an Integrity Technology botnet comprising more than 250,000 compromised consumer devices in the United States and elsewhere.
At the time, then-FBI Director Christopher Wray said Integrity Technology was behind a Chinese hacking group known as “Flax Typhoon”, which conducted intelligence-gathering and reconnaissance activities for Beijing’s security agencies.
China’s foreign ministry said on Friday it firmly opposed hacker activities as well as the ill-intended spread of misinformation.
China would seek to jointly tackle such internet risks and establish mutual respect with the United States in this regard, ministry spokesperson Mao Ning told reporters at a regular briefing in Beijing.
The latest action comes as governments increasingly focus on the use of compromised internet-connected devices and network infrastructure to support cyber espionage and attacks against essential services.
