Meta Platforms says its push into artificial intelligence for businesses is gaining traction, with its tools now facilitating more than 10 million conversations each week across its messaging platforms.

The figure marks a sharp increase from about one million conversations recorded at the start of the year, highlighting rapid adoption of AI driven customer engagement tools on apps like WhatsApp and Messenger.
The company’s business AI allows firms to interact with customers through automated chat systems, handling inquiries, recommendations, and transactions. This is part of a broader effort to integrate AI into Meta’s core products and turn messaging into a stronger revenue stream.
Executives say the growth reflects rising demand from businesses looking to automate customer service and scale interactions without significantly increasing costs. Many small and medium sized enterprises are using these tools to maintain constant engagement with customers, particularly in markets where messaging apps are a primary communication channel.
Despite the surge in usage, Meta has not yet fully monetised the service. Most of the AI features remain free for businesses, though the company has indicated that it plans to introduce revenue generating models as adoption deepens.
The expansion of business AI comes alongside strong financial results. Meta recently reported quarterly revenue of 56.3 billion dollars, up 33 percent year on year, with profit rising to 26.8 billion dollars.
A growing portion of that revenue is tied to messaging services, particularly paid interactions on WhatsApp. The company is also experimenting with subscription features across its platforms, including premium options that offer customization and enhanced user experiences.
Meta’s broader strategy is to embed AI across its ecosystem, from consumer chatbots to enterprise tools. The company is investing heavily in infrastructure to support this expansion, including data centers and advanced computing systems needed to run large scale AI models.
However, the aggressive push into AI is not without risks. The company is increasing capital expenditure significantly, raising concerns among investors about the cost of maintaining its leadership in the space.
Still, the rapid growth in business AI usage suggests Meta is positioning itself to compete more directly with other AI providers by leveraging its vast user base and existing messaging platforms.
As adoption scales, the company’s challenge will be converting this high engagement into sustainable revenue while maintaining ease of use for businesses and users alike.
