Kamel Ghribi, chairman of GKSD and vice president of Gruppo San Donato, has received the Global Leadership Award at an event held at the Library of Congress as part of celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence.

The award recognized a select group of international leaders for leadership, public service and contributions to society, according to the organizers.
The ceremony brought together government officials, business executives, financiers, academics and representatives of civil society. Eric Trump delivered the keynote address, speaking about leadership, economic growth and international relations.
According to the organizers, the award recognized Ghribi’s work across Europe, Africa and the Middle East, including efforts to promote international cooperation, healthcare innovation, public-private partnerships and healthcare access. It also cited his support for education, professional training, philanthropy and dialogue between institutions, businesses and communities.
Accepting the award, Ghribi said the recognition reflected the work of colleagues across GKSD and Gruppo San Donato.
“I receive this recognition with profound gratitude and an equally profound sense of responsibility,” he said.
“I regard it as a tribute to the thousands of professionals across GKSD and Gruppo San Donato who, every day, place their expertise, passion and humanity at the service of others.”
He added that healthcare could play a broader role in international development.
“I firmly believe that healthcare, together with education, infrastructure and innovation, represents one of the most powerful instruments of cooperation between nations and one of the strongest foundations upon which to build development, stability and lasting peace,” he said.
The organizers said the award also reflected GKSD’s approach to healthcare, which emphasizes healthcare as a driver of human development, international partnerships and long-term economic and social progress.
Ghribi’s visit to Washington included meetings with representatives of U.S. institutions and the business community aimed at strengthening cooperation between Italy and the United States in healthcare, investment, infrastructure and innovation, according to the organizers.
The organizers said the award recognized both Ghribi and the work of GKSD and Gruppo San Donato, highlighting a vision centered on international cooperation, responsibility and healthcare as a contributor to economic and social development.
