Mr. Schaffler brings over twenty years of experience across acquisitions, capital markets, and portfolio management. Most recently, Mr. Schaffler was at Angelo Gordon, where he served as Managing Director in the real estate group and was responsible for the firm’s investments in SFR and real estate special situations.

“I am excited to join Roofstock and lead the fund investment team at this pivotal time for the SFR industry,” said Mr. Schaffler. “Institutional allocations to the SFR and build-for-rent sectors are increasing, driven by positive demographic demand trends and relative affordability tailwinds set against a backdrop of negative to negligible supply. This framework, combined with Roofstock’s ample resources, proprietary data and analytics, and cutting-edge technology should enable us to deliver exceptional investment opportunities as well as a quality, affordable resident experience.”

“We are delighted to welcome Andrew Schaffler to Roofstock as our Chief Investment Officer,” said Gary Beasley, CEO and co-founder of Roofstock. “His extensive experience and proven track record in real estate investments and single-family rentals, dating back to the industry’s institutional formation, make him a valuable addition to our leadership team. We look forward to leveraging his expertise as we continue to enhance the capabilities of our platform for our clients.”

Before his tenure at Angelo Gordon, Mr. Schaffler served as the Director of Listed Real Estate Securities for Madison International Realty, where he managed all aspects of the firm’s public markets investing activities. His responsibilities included portfolio management for a Listed Property separate account and commingled fund, as well as membership on the investment committee for the firm’s private equity real estate funds.

Prior to joining Madison in 2015, Mr. Schaffler spent nine years at Cohen & Steers Capital Management, where he played a key role on the real estate securities portfolio management team. His contributions included five years on a long/short real estate hedge fund, covering a diverse range of property sectors and subsectors.

Andrew Schaffler holds a B.S. degree in Policy Analysis and Management from Cornell University. He is a CFA charterholder and an inaugural member of the ULI Single-Family Rental Council.
