Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Cincinnati was proud to receive a prestigious award at this year’s Ronald McDonald House Charities International Conference, held in July, for going above and beyond for the charity’s mission.
Six Chapters out of 390 globally were recognized. The Cincinnati Chapter was recognized for its tireless work in trauma-informed care (TIC), receiving a $25,000 grant.
Sarah Curry, TIC Champion and Communications Manager at Cincinnati’s Ronald McDonald House, accepted the award at the ceremony held July 24 in front of over 1,700 colleagues from 58 countries. Curry began training in 2019 and has earned five certifications over the last five years to help educate and implement a trauma-informed culture. This is the Cincinnati House’s first time winning in this category; it won in a previous year for its Taste of Hope program.
“Having a trauma-informed culture has been so valuable for our team; we’re better equipped to help our families feel safe and less stressed during a critical time in their lives,” says Curry. “Our team has worked overtime to turn TIC into a core program that any organization that works with families can put into practice. We’re honored to be recognized by our peers as leaders in trauma-informed care.”
