HOUSTON – Celebrating 60 years of unwavering commitment and service to the city’s hospitality industry, the Houston Hospitality Alliance (HHA), an independent trade organization formerly known as the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau, is proud to announce the appointment of HHA’s inaugural president, Jonathan Horowitz. As a seasoned leader in the hospitality sector, Horowitz brings a wealth of invaluable experience to guide the organization toward an even brighter future. In his multifaceted role as HHA President, Horowitz will serve as a pivotal link between the public, esteemed members of the organization and the HHA board, all while actively advancing HHA’s long-standing mission to invigorate Houston’s diverse and thriving hospitality and tourism industry.

“As the incoming chair for 2024, I couldn’t be more excited to have Jonathan aboard. His passion and dedication to the hospitality industry align seamlessly with HHA’s mission, and we look forward to the positive impact of his leadership on our members and the industry.”Tweet this

“We have taken significant strides this year to position the Houston Hospitality Alliance for success in its next chapter,” says Reginald L. Martin, Chairman of HHA’s Board of Directors. “We are thrilled to have Jonathan lead HHA in representing, promoting and advocating for Houston’s restaurants, hotels, bars, arts and entertainment venues, attractions and related businesses.”

Horowitz boasts an impressive track record of success, having served in leadership roles at Buffalo Bayou Brewing Company, Legacy Restaurants (Original Ninfa’s and Antone’s Po-Boys), and Lasco Enterprises (The Tasting Room and MAX’s Wine Dive), in addition to founding Convive Hospitality Consulting, through which he provides full-service support to launch and grow hospitality concepts. Along with nearly two decades of expertise in Houston’s hospitality industry, he also brings more than a decade of experience serving on not-for-profit boards, including the Art Colony Association and the Greater Houston Restaurant Association, including as board president from 2016 to 2018. Horowitz is currently serving a one-year term as chair of the board for the Texas Restaurant Association.

“I am deeply honored by the opportunity to lead HHA as it continues its six-decade legacy of promoting and supporting the hospitality industry in Houston,” says Horowitz of the 501c6 non-profit trade organization, which officially launched in April 2023. “It is a tremendous responsibility that I cannot wait to tackle. I have experienced first-hand the resilience of this industry in Houston and seen our restaurants, bars, hotels, arts organizations, and venues receive the national and international recognition they rightly deserve. I envision the HHA as the driving force behind showcasing the city’s incredible diversity and attracting visitors from around the world to experience all of our remarkable offerings.”

Dennis Doherty, vice chair of HHA’s board of directors, equally looks forward to the future: “As the incoming chair for 2024, I couldn’t be more excited to have Jonathan aboard. His passion and dedication to the hospitality industry align seamlessly with HHA’s mission, and we look forward to the positive impact of his leadership on our members and the industry.”

The Houston Hospitality Alliance extends heartfelt gratitude to its dedicated board members who work tirelessly to represent and highlight the diversity of the hospitality and tourism industry in America’s fourth-largest city. Horowitz joins current board members, including Reginald L. Martin, Jr., Dennis Doherty, Tom Segesta, Kim Davis, Jackie Wallace, Stephanie Haynes, James Batt, and Connie Cochran, as they collectively become the face and leading voices of HHA. Together, they are steadfast in their commitment to promoting Houston’s flourishing hospitality industry locally, nationally and globally while nurturing stronger connections between the local industry and the greater Houston community.
