Global Transport Ministers meet in Germany from 21-23 May

Media Advisory Global Transport Ministers meet in Germany from 21-23 May   Ministers responsible for transport from the 69 member countries of the International Transport Forum (ITF) at the OECD will meet in Leipzig, Germany, from 21 to 23 Mayto discuss ways to make transport systems more resilient to global shocks.

Journalists wishing to cover the Summit can request their accreditation via the summit website or directly via this link. Accreditation is free of charge.

ITF countries represent 55% of the world population and around 80% of global GDP. They also account for the vast majority of global transport activity: 80% of all airborne cargo and passenger transport, 75% of all road and rail transport, 70% of all tourist trips go to ITF countries, 65% of global maritime freight originates there.  Strengthening the resilience of global supply chains is therefore a common priority for the ministers gathering in Leipzig.

Other transport leaders from business, international organisations and academia will also attend.

ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL TRANSPORT FORUM
Who we are
The International Transport Forum at the OECD is an intergovernmental organisation with 69 member countries. It acts as a think tank for transport policy and organises the Annual Summit of transport ministers. ITF is the only global body that covers all transport modes. The ITF is administratively integrated with the OECD, yet politically autonomous.
What we do
The ITF works for transport policies that improve peoples’ lives. Our mission is to foster a deeper understanding of the role of transport in economic growth, environmental sustainability and social inclusion and to raise the public profile of transport policy.
How we do it
The ITF organises global dialogue for better transport. We act as a platform for discussion and pre-negotiation of policy issues across all transport modes. We analyse trends, share knowledge and promote exchange among transport decision-makers and civil society. The ITF’s Annual Summit is the world’s largest gathering of transport ministers and the leading global platform for dialogue on transport policy. www.itf-oecd.org
