The Playing for Change Foundation’s 2024 Impact Awards shone a spotlight on notable musical artists for their philanthropic efforts and positive contributions to society, with Diplo, Ellie Goulding, and Andrea Bocelli along with his wife, Veronica, being honored. The prestigious ceremony took place on Saturday, April 13, at the Rubell Museum in Miami.
Diplo, a three-time Grammy winner, expressed his gratitude for the recognition, highlighting music’s power to transcend barriers and uplift communities. “It’s very humbling to receive this acknowledgment from the Playing for Change Foundation,” he said. Ellie Goulding, who also accepted her award in person, and the Bocellis, who participated virtually, have been recognized for using their platforms to drive significant social change.
The event featured performances that blended the honorees’ music, showcasing young talents from the foundation’s partner program, Young Musicians Unite, along with DJ and producer Note Marcato, and Hip-Hop Kidz. The celebration continued with an afterparty at Superblue Miami, co-hosted by MGM+, where Diplo and Sofi Tukker entertained the attendees with live performances.
PFCF CEO Jake Groshong took the opportunity to discuss the foundation’s extensive work, which reaches over 60 locations in 21 countries. The foundation focuses on empowering youth through music education, supporting cultural expression, and fostering community leadership, with active programs in diverse locations from Mali to Miami.
An online charity auction was also highlighted during the evening, inviting attendees and supporters worldwide to participate in raising funds for the foundation’s ongoing initiatives. The auction, which includes exclusive items and experiences, runs through April 18.
