The former President and COO of Las Catalinas will lead the new luxury destination through its next phase of development.
GUANACASTE, Costa Rica–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Revolution Places, the real estate and hospitality investment arm of Revolution, LLC, today announced the appointment of Neal Herman as President of Punta Cacique, a new luxury beach community designed to embrace the Costa Rican landscape and culture throughout its expanding collection of hotels, including the country’s first Waldorf Astoria property, residences, and amenities.
Herman brings more than two decades of luxury hospitality and development experience, most recently serving as President and COO of Las Catalinas, an award-winning luxury community designed as a fully car-free resort just an hour south of Punta Cacique.
“I’m excited to join the Punta Cacique team during a pivotal time in the peninsula’s evolution and get in on the ground floor of what will be an unparalleled luxury destination in Costa Rica,” said Herman. “I was drawn to Punta Cacique because of Steve Case’s vision to create a development that is connected to the people, culture, and land. We are experiencing an entrepreneurial renaissance in Costa Rica, and Punta Cacique will be engaged with local communities and the broader business ecosystem to help build a stronger local economy.”
“Neal is a hospitality visionary and seasoned operator with a deep reverence for Costa Rica’s ecology and culture,” said Steve Case, Co-founder of AOL and Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Revolution Places. “Growing up in Hawaii, I witnessed firsthand the ability of tourism to educate and connect visitors to unique cultural experiences beyond resort walls. Neal and I both believe that today’s luxury travelers are even more eager for that type of authenticity. We have waited years to develop this land because we wanted to build the right plan and team. Neal is the ideal person to lead that team, and we’re thrilled to have him on board.”
Herman has a proven track record of building premier locales from blueprint to finished product. At Las Catalinas, he led planning, design, entitlement, development, construction, and operations. During his 10-year tenure, he oversaw the development of 40,000 square meters of residential and commercial space. Before joining Las Catalinas, Herman served in several executive roles at the Four Seasons in Los Angeles, New York, Miami, and Costa Rica.
Punta Cacique consists of more than 600 acres with panoramic views of the ocean and dramatic coastline beaches and cliffs – all just 25 minutes from the Guanacaste International (LIR) Airport and 10 minutes from the coastal villages of Playa Hermosa and Playas del Coco. Punta Cacique will be anchored by multiple luxury hotels, with additional branded residential units and a vast array of world-class amenities, including planned beach clubs, state-of-the-art recreational facilities, and culinary experiences. Currently in development, Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique is slated to open in late 2024. For more on the Cacique peninsula and its partners, visit www.punta-cacique.com.
