Qingdao, China – On September 19, BYD delivered 100 fully electric buses to CUTCSA, Uruguay’s largest electric public transit operator, at its Qingdao factory. This delivery ceremony marks another significant breakthrough for BYD in the international commercial vehicle market and further propels the development of green transportation in Uruguay. The event was attended by several guests, including Juan Antonio Salgado, President of CUTCSA Group; Fernando Barcia, General Manager; Martin Orlando, Minister Counselor of Uruguay in China; Deng Yuan, Country Manager for BYD Uruguay; Zhang Lin, Deputy General Manager of BYD America Auto Sales Division; and Wang Bao Can, General Manager of BYD’s Commercial Vehicle Factory in Qingdao.

CUTCSA highly praised the fully electric buses for their performance, quality, environmental sustainability, and operational effectiveness at the ceremony. The company expressed its commitment to achieving a fully electrified fleet by 2040 through continued collaboration.

The delivered K9UD electric buses, measuring 12 meters in length, are tailored for the Uruguayan market, focusing on environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, smart technology, and safety and comfort. These custom buses not only showcase BYD’s latest technological innovations but also symbolize the sincere cooperation and ongoing progress between the two parties, representing a pivotal step in Uruguay’s push towards 100% public transit electrification.

To date, BYD’s new energy buses have made significant inroads in major Latin American countries, including Uruguay, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Ecuador, as BYD continues to spearhead the region’s public transport electrification.
